If you have a CWS sliding or patio door that’s sticking, leaking, or refusing to lock, we stock and install CWS-compatible rollers, handles, locks, and weatherstripping in Pasadena. Most CWS sliding door part replacements in Pasadena run between $185 and $650 installed, depending on whether we’re swapping a single roller assembly or rebuilding both tracks and the lock. The most common phone call we get starts the same way: the door worked fine for years, then one morning it took two hands and a hip-check to move it. That’s almost always a roller failure, and it’s the easiest thing to fix when it’s caught early.
We’re a Pasadena-based independent windows-and-doors company, not affiliated with CWS, but we’ve worked on their sliders long enough to know exactly what to order and what fails first.
Which CWS Models This Applies To
CWS sliding and patio doors come in a few series lines, and the part you need depends on which one you have. The aluminum-frame CWS sliders most common in Pasadena homes use either a single or tandem roller assembly under each panel, and the roller diameter matters: 1-1/4 inch and 1-1/2 inch are the two sizes we see most, and they are not interchangeable. You can’t eyeball it. The old roller needs to come out and get measured with a caliper before we order the replacement, because a roller that’s 1/8 inch too tall will make the panel ride too high and the lock won’t line up.
Look for a small silver sticker on the top or side rail of the door panel. It usually has the CWS series code and glass specs. If the sticker’s gone, a photo of the door edge and the bottom track is often enough for us to identify it. On CWS doors specifically, we lean toward OEM parts when the door is under 10 years old and still in production. For older CWS series where the original parts are discontinued or backordered, we use quality aftermarket equivalents that match the original spec. We’ll tell you which is which and why before we order anything.

Signs Your CWS Sliding & Patio Doors Is Failing
- The door drags or takes real effort to open. This is nearly always a flat-spotted or rusted roller. Pasadena’s dry summers and occasional heavy rain cycles do a number on the roller bearings, especially on doors that face south or west. The bearing wears, the wheel stops spinning, and the panel starts sliding on the metal track instead of rolling on it.
- The lock doesn’t catch, or it catches only when you lift the door. When rollers wear down, the panel sinks lower in the track. The lock bolt no longer lines up with the keeper. That’s a roller problem, not a lock problem, and replacing the lock without fixing the rollers won’t solve it.
- You feel a draft or see daylight at the meeting stile. The weatherstripping on CWS sliders compresses over time. Once it loses its shape, air moves through. In a Pasadena summer, that’s your air conditioning leaking out. In winter, it’s cold air coming in.
- Water puddles on the interior floor after rain. Clogged weep holes or a failed threshold cap let water pool in the track and spill inside. The track itself may still be fine, but the seal under the threshold has given out.
- The handle feels loose or the latch sticks. Internal spring mechanisms in CWS handle sets fatigue. It starts as a little wiggle, then one day the latch won’t retract at all. A stuck latch is a safety issue: if the door can’t open in an emergency, that’s a problem.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a CWS sliding door in Pasadena, plan on these installed ranges:
- Single roller assembly replacement: $185 to $280 per panel
- Both rollers plus track cleaning and alignment: $320 to $480
- Handle and lock set replacement: $220 to $380
- Full weatherstripping and threshold seal: $190 to $350
- Complete hardware refresh (rollers, handle, weatherstripping): $550 to $650
What drives the range is the door’s age and the track condition. A 20-year-old CWS track with pitting or corrosion takes more prep than a clean 8-year-old track. Every quote includes the part, the labor, and the written price before any work starts, so there’s no invoice surprise at the end. Our work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the finished work isn’t right, we make it right. No debate, no countdown.
DIY or Call Us?
Removing a sliding door panel means lifting 80 to 150 pounds of glass out of its track. That’s not a one-person job, and doing it wrong damages the frame, the glass, or the person. The panel can be safely removed and set aside by someone who’s done it before; the roller swap itself is straightforward once the panel is out. Everything inside the door edge is safe to inspect: you can look for worn wheels, loose screws, and debris in the track without calling anyone.
What we don’t recommend: forcing a stuck panel, prying a handle off with a screwdriver, or using lubricant that attracts dust and gums up the rollers. We see those fixes more often than we’d like, and they make the real repair cost more. If the door’s fighting you, call us at (626) 628-2308. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a quick roller swap or something deeper.
FAQs
CWS rollers typically last 12 to 18 years in Pasadena’s climate, with faster wear on doors facing strong sun or carrying heavy glass panels. If your door is over 15 years old and has never had roller service, it’s past due. Call (626) 628-2308 and we’ll assess the track and rollers. The estimate is free.
Rollers cannot be meaningfully repaired once the bearing has worn flat, but handles and locks can sometimes be serviced with a deep cleaning and internal spring adjustment. We’ll tell you which is which after we look. Call (626) 628-2308 for an exact determination, at no cost.
Most roller, handle, and weatherstripping jobs on a CWS slider take 60 to 90 minutes per panel. Track repair or threshold replacement can add time. We’ll give you a clear window when you schedule, and the written price covers the full job before we begin. Call (626) 628-2308 to schedule at a time that works for your household.
We keep the most common CWS replacement rollers, handles, and weatherstripping on our service vehicles, including the 1-1/4 inch and 1-1/2 inch roller sizes we see most in Pasadena. If your door needs an oddball part, we order it and let you know the timeline before we schedule. Call (626) 628-2308 and describe what you’re seeing; we’ll match the part before we even arrive.
